What standard does my child have to be?

We will cater for players from Prep Test through to Grade 5 standard. There will be easier and more challenging parts for violins, violas and cellos. We will also have separate groups in the afternoon session to facilitate the more capable players.
What do I need to bring everyday?

Please bring your own instrument, water bottle and packed lunch.
My child will not know anyone and is nervous.

At break times we will have games and a craft table. Teenage helpers will be there to help ensure that everyone is happy and engaged.
We are away on one of the days- can my child miss a day and pay less?

Because we are working towards a concert on Friday, we would like full attendance where possible. No reduction in fees is possible.
How do I know my child is safe?

All our staff are DBS checked , have done safeguarding training and we have a first aider on site at all times.
When is drop off and pick up?

Registration will be at 9.45am. Sessions start at 10am, last session finishes at 3pm. Extra child care options are available.
How much is the course?

10am to 3pm £245. Early bird £225 before 21 April. Sibling discounts of 10% are available. Wrap around care - additional £75 for 5 days.
What are the child care options?

This year we will be offering extra hours to help with child care, 9am to 10am and 3pm to 5pm. The charge for this service will be £15 per day.

Terms & Conditions

- By reserving a place on the course, you are agreeing to pay the full amount of £245/early bird £225.

-Until full payment has been received, your child’s place is not guaranteed. Full payment must be made by 14th July 2025.

-Places are awarded on a first come first served basis.

- Early booking is recommended to secure your child’s place. Payment instalments can be arranged. Please email info@scherzostringssummerschool.com before April 21st 2025 to request this.

- To qualify for the Early bird deal of £225 the course fee must be received by April 21st 2025.

- May 19th 2025 is the deadline for entries. Applications received after this date cannot be guaranteed a place. Your child will be added to a waiting list.

- You will be notified by May 19th 2025 if the course is no longer viable. In this situation, any payments will be returned in full.

- If your child can no longer attend the course, the cancellation must be notified immediately by email to info@scherzosringssummerschool.com and must be received no later than one working day before the start of the course. The refund policy is as follows:

Up to 21 days prior to the course start date refund in full minus £25
Between 7 and 20 days prior to the start date refund 50% of course fee
Less than a week prior to the course start date refund 25% of course fee
On or after the first day of the course no refund

- Please inform us of any medical issues or allergies we may need to be aware of. It is important that you give us all the facts we need to know to keep your child safe. A medical form will need to be filled in prior to the course stsrt.

- We will have a first aider and first aid kit on site.

- We have public liability insurance and DBS checks for all adults over 18.

- By attending Scherzo Strings Summer School, you allow photos of your child to be used on publicity sites. Those appearing on our publicity shall not be named. If you do not wish to give consent, please contact us before the course.

- Risk assessments will be done for fire procedures.

- Children will not be allowed off site without adult supervision.

-Collection at the end of the day must be done by a designated adult, please inform us who will be collecting.

-Scherzo String Summer School accepts no responsibility for damage, theft or loss of instruments or personal belongings.

-Good behaviour is expected at all times. Children who don’t meet these expectations, after several warnings , may not be allowed to return.

-We reserve the right to alter advertised instructors and course content.

-We reserve the right to review these terms without prior notice.
